The International school of Penang, Jalan sungai satu, Batu feringhi,Penang 1110, Malaysia, 18th November 2008 Trip to Langkawi Dear Ms Clarke, All of the people in my tour group and in the class would like to thank you. I’m honoured to represent them with this letter. Thank you for supervising and looking over us. Our time in Langkawi wouldn’t be this good if there wasn’t a good supervisor to look after us. We all know that you are a great teacher even if we dislike your decisions sometimes. We had a great time working with you. I loved sitting on the bow of the boat during the mangrove tour. The Under Water World was awesome we had a great tour and we got a chance to learn more about sea creatures and animals. During the wait for the cable car I was extremely exited but disappointed that we couldn't ride it. We wish that your cold goes away very soon so we see you in class again. We loved our having you in our Langkawi trip and we would like to see you again on another residential trip. Yours sincerely, Sean Donovan
Stanley bought a big new house in Louisville, Kentucky with his treasure money. As school slowed down for the Christmas break he wanted to take the Christmas break in Oslo, Norway. "During the winter it's always freezing there," Matilda remarked quietly.
Matilda, Stanley, and their mum strapped in for the long flight to London as the flight attendant announced sweetly,: "This flight will be approximately 8 hours 30 minutes long please turn off all electronic devices and remain seated until we turn off the seat belt sign". Stanley and his mum slept as Matilda watched inapropriate movies, on her personal TV on the plane. After a seemingly endless flight, they touched down in England. It was the 22nd and nearing Christmas. They waited in the airport for an hour for the next plane to Oslo. Matilda was now paranoid of everything after those movies. The next flight was short, only two hours long. When the plane landed in Oslo they went out of the terminal then out of the airport and took a taxi to a fancy hotel room Stanley’s mum reserved for them. The door men gave Stanley's mum fancy vodka and fresh cherry juice mix. Then they gave Stanley and Matilda fresh lemonade, they all echoed in a happy tone “This is great”. as they were shone to their room Matilda and Stanley cheered “Wow”! Even their mum looked surprised even though his mum saw photos of rooms in this hotel on the Internet . They all went to sleep late after watching TV, playing board games that the had hotel provided.
Stanley went to the hockey rink. Stanley tried to compete with the local boys in ice hockey. He got hit many times and was bruised badly by the puck. He played against Nowiegan boys who had membership but did not stay in the hotel. He was no match for the Norwegians because that was their local sport. The Norwegian boys let him join in and he played along.
The next day, in the morning they prepared for a Whale tour when they asked for where the best place to see whales near Oslo they only reconfirmed the place to see. That day they spent their time from 1 PM to 4 PM looking at the big, amazing, whales of all kinds leaping high into the air and splashing back into the water the sight was thrilling every time Stanley saw a whale that was faster or bigger than than the last he would taunt, "Oh! beat you again", "It's not a competition", Matilda would reply smartly, Matilda had a good eye but did not brag when she saw one first, one could tell because Stanley always bragged when he saw a whale when Matilda's eye met one first. the boat was traveling one km parallel to the bay of Larvik. At 3:30 PM it was time to turn back to Oslo. Near the port of Oslo They encountered lots of yelling and arguing but could only estimate the shape and size of the ship the large ship could not be identified. The shouting was very abrupt and couldn't be understood.
About ten minutes later they scurried off the boat to the port. They all agreed it was awesome and exiting when they reached the hotel they thanked the people at the desk for recommending the wonderful tour site and company by saying"Thank you, it was a great place for a tour", Stanley was still wondering about the arguing in the bay on that ship earlier that day. When he got to the room he switched on the TV and went to the local news channel and watched with interest and intently at the of the fancy set, there was a translation of many languages at the bottom of the screen he spotted the English and read excitedly : Whalers seen at the bay north of Larvik, anchorites offer 1000 US dollar reward for capturing the men hunting whales on protected property in the bay south of Larvik. Could those men be the ones arguing in the port of Oslo?
Were they headed to Larvik? Were those men possibly taunting authorities purposely ?
It was such a well guarded area; shouldn’t they know there is a coast guard station near by Larvik? These ideas raced through Stanley’s head he turned over to tell Matilda, but she was already fast asleep.
The next morning: “Wake up there is a 10,000 dollar reward for catching those Whalers”, Stanley explained quickly. She had fallen asleep before they mentioned the reward “huh”, Matilda replied sleepily and then yawned.
Once their mum was awake they went to breakfast to a chain restaurant that was only in Scandinavia it sold baked fish, and eggs with toast as it’s main breakfast equivalent to bacon eggs and toast in America or UK. Stanley always liked to try new things in fact he really enjoyed that breakfast during break fast they all discussed what they had heard on TV last night but Matilda had only just heard that morning from Stanley, "Well maybe we could go on an adventure, but remember it will be dangerous, even if there not armed but it would be an awesome thing to add to the story of our vacation,"
1PM after getting prepared equipped with some police help, binoculars, and handcuffs they were told were to wait for suspects to take their whales by truck to Oslo. To be shipped out around the world as coking oil, petrol, blubber, fattening substances and carpets.
The police told them where a camouflaged, outpost that was built into a cliff was, half way between Larvik and Oslo. "The convenient out post is hidden near the road, and facing perpendicular to a road block," the husky officer explained. Stanley asked, "How are we supposed to find it if it is so concealed into a cliff ?" "We'll give you a GPS you dummy. To lead you there. It's already marked on as a place, third one down. In the column of top secret. Don't make to much noise good luck they may be dangerous! We'll send out one police squadron of four for help" Explained the blond, husky, officer decisively.
The next day after settling in the cozy outpost Matilda was up early. Enthusiastically checking the road for the outlaws. Sure enough she saw a gigantic 18 wheeler coming down the road toward the police road block it was obvious it had a full load because of it's uneasy balance.
She woke up every one by going into the bedrooms "Get up lazy heads, they're here," Matilda, Stanley, there mum and the four cop sneaked out the door carefully. The four officers stopped at the bottom of the cliff "don't you think we should let them go first and then come in when the suspicion rises," one big, old, muscular, officer whispered, "yeah it won't raise any suspicion that they are helping the government and not just normal people taking a walk through the beautiful mountains of Norway," another short blond haired officer said agreeingly. All the police officers were hiding behind a rock. One moment the family was questioning the suspects, Stanley asked after a volley of odd questions to all of them came crude answers Stanley then put it upon himself to ask if he could check the cargo the reply was "Sure kid take a look," but was clearly bored by all these questions. As they were shone to the back end by a tall, young, muscular, employee he had a short, brown, beard.
A truck of similar sorts carrying Whales came at a blazing speed toward the road block it seemed at first it would smash into it but then ground to a halt out of the passenger seat hoped a a skinny, man with brown hair and a flat top below that was a goti. He pointed his AK-47 rifle at Stanley and yelled, "Face on the floor all of you! I don't want any police to find out about this," a moment later Stanley eyed for the police to come they all snook up on the criminal discretely but just then, when he turned a round to open the massive gate that was lined with barbed wire the burly police man smacked the crook on the face with the butt of his M-4 carbine. Stanley and Matilda arose and said thankfully "You guys saved me a lot of abuse or my life, thanks so much" "lets get the other one," he exclaimed enthusiastically. The short blond police man shot the driver with a rubber bullet while he got out to complain to the other unconscious criminal for how long it is taking to open the gate.
Two more men came along they were walking along towards the truck cabin one was smoking the other was talking the looked like twins both about six feet tall had long blond hair and loads of tattoos wearing thick rugged jackets looked up they saw the unconscious comrade and the police men and then they started to run a brown haired police man with a long neck a brown mustache and a shaved beard quite muscular took initiative since he was then only one who saw this. Quickly shot them using rubber bullets down with one precise shot each. Soon after they all checked the interior contents Matilda, Stanley, and the officers. They found tones upon tones of savagely destroyed whales. Their mum stayed snug in the outpost while
After handcuffing them and forcing the outlaws into the car to be sent to their doom, and a fine of all money they own. they let through the first truck Took all the remaining whales and sold every part of the whales since they where already killed no point in letting them go to waste.
Matilda, Stanley, and their mum went back to Oslo to continue their holidays.
